Doris Kearns Goodwin returns for a second visit to the podcast and reveals her writing process, a new book project, and thoughts on our democracy. She is a presidential historian, international keynote speaker, Pulitzer Prize-winning, New York Times #1 best-selling author, and a partner in Pastimes Productions.
Ms. Goodwin is often called upon by the news media and late-night TV hosts as well as companies, educational institutions, and nonprofits to discuss leadership and provide historical context for the current day, including discussion of the impact of the COVID-19 global pandemic and the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. While sheltered in place, her ReadyCam Home Studio allows for news interviews and virtual fireside chats and lectures.
Ms. Goodwin’s seventh book, “Leadership in Turbulent Times,” was an instant bestseller and published to critical acclaim in Fall 2018. Focusing on Presidents Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, and Lyndon Baines Johnson, the book provides an accessible and essential road map for aspiring and established leaders in every field and all of us in our everyday lives.
In 2020, Ms. Goodwin executive produced through her new independent production company, Pastimes Productions Inc., the miniseries WASHINGTON, which was broadcast to record audiences on HISTORY over Presidents’ Day weekend 2020. Her second production ABRAHAM LINCOLN premiered over three nights on Presidents’ Day weekend 2022 on HISTORY. Ms. Goodwin was the first woman to enter the Boston Red Sox locker room and is a devoted fan of the World Series-winning team. She has three sons and three grandchildren and lives in Boston.

Jonathan Soroff: A Native Bostonian And His Love Of The City.
Boston is a bustling metropolitan city with more than four million population. Its streets are filled with energy, and there are plenty of different neighbourhoods to explore during the weekends. It has become known for music and food festivals or art exhibitions, which are always worth checking out. Join this conversation where Jonathan Soroff gives us his story as we take a walk in the Boston Public Garden.
After growing up in Newton and graduating from Duke University, Jonathan Soroff, 55, began his journalism career at The Boston Herald. For 28 years, he was the lead columnist for The Improper Bostonian Magazine, writing the social column and a celebrity interview in every issue and contributing numerous features. He’s written for various publications, including People Magazine, London's Royal Academy Magazine, The South China Morning Post, Modern Luxury, Dujour, The National, and the South African editions of Elle and Elle Decor.
He is currently a contributing editor at Boston Magazine, writing the Person of Interest interview, a quarterly column, and travel content. He also produces travel stories for numerous national and international publications. For several years, he co-hosted a weekly radio program, “Status Report,” on Boston Herald Radio. In 2013, he published his first novel, "Crimes of Fashion.” He serves on the Board of Overseers at The Boston Ballet, the Advisory Board of the Trustees of the Reservations, the Board of Corporators for Beaver Country Day School in Chestnut Hill, MA, and is a director of the NET Research Foundation, which funds research into carcinoid cancer and related tumours. He lives in Newton, MA, with his husband, Sam Mazzarelli.
